Adelaide factory workers win $1.2m in long-running Lotto syndicate

A group of factory workers in South Australia have finally struck gold in their long-running lottery syndicate, winning a combined $1.2 million.

The group's leader was planning to tell her 10 colleagues during a meeting at their Wingfield factory this morning, but only after she had confirmed the news herself.

Initially, the woman – who wishes to remain anonymous – didn't believe her syndicate had won $1,238,977 in the division one prize in the weekend's X Lotto draw.

"I just wanted to make sure it was real," the group's leader said.

They had always played the same numbers, she added.

"We've been playing this syndicate for about 12 years now. We all chose a few numbers ourselves, and then let the terminal choose the rest."

The money was especially welcome now, she said.

"This is going to change so many lives. There are a few of us who have been struggling a bit lately."

And as to how the cash will be spent once it was divided up equally among the group?

"I'd say most of us will be making a big payment towards our mortgages," she said.

"There also might be a few holidays in there as well. We'll just have to make sure we don't all go at once."
