Shorten at centre of victory party in Longman

The polls would have had you thinking this could have been the "Super Saturday" that could have caused damage to Labor.

Instead, it was a victory party in the Queensland electorate of Longman, and Bill Shorten was at the centre of that party.

He arrived at the Caboolture RSL to an incredible welcome, telling the crowd it was a great night for the Labor Party and a great night for women Labor candidates.

Susan Lamb declared herself victorious in the seat. She thanked her family as well as the groundswell of support – in fact it is understood this was the biggest Labor ground campaign in Queensland’s history.

For Susan Lamb, she will now go on to be the member for Longman back in the lower house – but for Bill Shorten, perhaps he moves on now with an extra spring in his step and confident he can move on towards a federal election.
