Masked men threaten family with machetes and tomahawk in home invasion

Two armed bandits are on the run after storming a home in Brisbane's south, and threatening a terrified family with machetes, hammers and a tomahawk. 

The masked men forcibly moved five occupants into the lounge room around 9.45pm, before ransacking the Logan Reserve home and making off with cash, jewellery and mobile phones. 

The mother, who did not want to be identified, said she feared for her life.

"I was terrified, absolutely terrified, for myself and my kids," she told 9NEWS.

"I thought one of us was going to be killed."

Police said the bandits then fled in the family's Toyota Corolla which was parked in the driveway of the Sidney Court property, with Queensland registration 064VNW.

Some of the five residents, aged between 18 and 46, suffered cuts in the ordeal, but none needed to be taken to hospital. 

The family have told police they didn't know the intruders.
