Firefighters at Sydney hospital after nurses hit with 'illness, dizziness'

Firefighters are at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney's south-west, investigating a potential hazmat incident after several people fell ill.

Several nurses have been affected and are currently being assessed.

No evacuations have been reported, with Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Adam Dewberry saying the situation was "stable".

He said there was an "odour or a vapour that may have caused some illness or dizziness".

Firefighters were called to the hospital at about 5.45am.

They are working with building engineers to investigate the hospital's air conditioning system.

The emergency department at the hospital is functioning as normal.
