Lisa Wilkinson shoots champagne cork into Nine cameraman's face
TODAY show host Lisa Wilkinson has accidentally taken out her own cameraman with a champagne cork during an on-air stunt.
Lisa and Karl Stefanovic, who were broadcasting from outside David Jones at Melbourne's Bourke Street Mall this morning ahead of the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, were both being taught sabrage - how to open a champagne bottle with a sabre.
"That has got danger and K-Stefanovic written all over it," Lisa said as Mumm Champagne Ambassador Chris Sheehy began demonstrating the skill.
Karl fired off the cork in the direction of the camera, giving Lisa a fright, but things were about to get worse.
"Have you got a second bottle of champagne so I can have a go as well?" Lisa asked.
As the show began to wrap, Lisa sliced the top off the champagne bottle - sending the cork flying off camera and striking Nine cameraman Glenn Edwards in between the eyes.
"Cheers ... Are you ok?" Lisa asked.
Fortunately Glenn was unscathed, and even complimented Lisa's aim.
