Pilot and passenger escape light plane crash with minor injuries

A pilot and passenger managed to avoid serious injury when their light plane crashed nose-first on to a road in WA's Great Southern region after running into engine troubles.
The two-seater RV9 aircraft lost all power and clipped trees before crashing on to a service road near Muirs Highway in Mount Barker about 5pm yesterday, police said.

Police said it had been attempting an emergency landing when the trees caused it to crash nose-first.
The pilot and passenger suffered minor injuries.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct an investigation into the crash.
