Leyonhjelm calls for shotgun ban to end

Liberal Democrats senator David Leyonhjelm has warned the major parties they stand to lose 800,000 voters if the ban on importing the Adler A110 shotgun isn't lifted.
"It would be insane for either the government or opposition to go to war with a huge chunk of Australians based on the ridiculous assumption that imposing further restrictions on them will somehow reduce the risk of terrorism," he told parliament on Thursday.
The gun has been temporarily banned in the wake of the Lindt cafe siege but Senator Leyonhjelm says shooters won't cop being linked to terrorism and will instead be encouraged to vote for the Liberal Democrats.
