The "suspicious" death of a man found in an apartment in Sydney's south-west yesterday is being investigated by detectives.

Police were called to Middleton Road in Leumeah just before 2pm after neighbours noticed a bad smell coming from the unit.

The body of 49-year-old man was found rolled up inside a carpet inside the unit. He has since been identified as Jamie Colgan.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
