Leigh pledges 10-yr costing for all policy

Shadow assistant treasurer Andrew Leigh insists Labor will release its 10-year costings for hospitals - despite unveiling just a four-year policy.

The opposition has announced a return to the 2011 agreement the previous Labor government did with states and territories, pledging a $2 billion boost for public hospitals.

But it's only pledged to restore the National Health Reform Agreement for four years, walking away from replacing the $57 billion it has long accused the coalition of cutting from public hospitals to 2024/25.

After that, a Labor government would negotiate a new agreement with the states and territories, based on advice from a new healthcare reform commission it intends to establish.

Dr Leigh wouldn't say when Labor would release its costings but told Sky News on Wednesday it would provide figures for 10 years when it does.

He was adamant that hospitals would be included in those 10-year costings.

"All of our promises will be in those 10-year numbers," he said.
