Queensland learner pilot escapes low impact Townsville helicopter crash unscathed

A learner pilot has managed to walk away uninjured from a helicopter crash at Townsville airport in North Queensland.

The man's landing did not quite go to plan with the helicopter tipping on its side as it approached the landing pad.

The low impact incident happened before 10:00am this morning.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene.

Flames could be seen near the undercarriage of the chopper after the pilot safely exited.
