Leaders yet to lock in date for WA debate

Prime Minister Scott Morrison and his Labor rival Bill Shorten are yet to pencil a date in their diaries for a head-to-head debate in Perth.

Mr Morrison has suggested April 29 or 30 as possible dates, The West Australian reported on Monday.

But Mr Shorten was coy when asked if those dates suited him, saying instead he had suggested two possible days for a debate.

"I hope Mr Morrison can fit in with us," he told reporters in Melbourne.

Mr Shorten is reportedly planning to spend the week beginning April 29 - which is about midway through the campaign - in Perth.

The Liberals are aiming to hold onto the 11 seats they hold out of WA's 16, and are also eyeing off Cowan, which Labor's Anne Aly holds by a margin of 0.7 per cent.
