Leaders to blitz Queensland in last days of election campaign

Queensland's political leaders are preparing for a last-minute electorate blitz less than a week before the state's new government is determined.

Opposition Leader Annastacia Palaszczuk has already indicated she'll be busy travelling ahead of the January 31 poll, declaring yesterday: "This is the most important five days of my life."

Ms Palaszczuk will visit Brisbane-based electorates this morning, before travelling north for a few days.

"Get ready team, this is the make or break," Ms Palaszczuk said on Monday.

"This is about whether or not Queenslanders will have their assets for the future or whether they'll be sold under (Premier) Campbell Newman."

Mr Newman is also expected to leave Brisbane after spending Australia Day in his own inner-city electorate of Ashgrove.

He's likely to continue to spruik the Liberal National Party's (LNP) economic credentials after refusing to answer any questions on Monday apart from those directly related to his party's policies.

The LNP currently holds 73 seats in the state's 89-seat parliament and will need to retain at least 45 of them to continue to govern in its own right.
