AUSTRALIA'S RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS

* 15 cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Australia: five in Queensland; four in New South Wales; four in Victoria; two in South Australia;

* Eight of the earlier cases have recovered, other seven are in a stable condition;

* All of the cases in Australia have come from Wuhan except one in NSW who had contact in China with a confirmed case in Wuhan;

* Across the world, there have been 69,273 confirmed cases;

* 1670 reported deaths, with a fatality rate of 2.4 per cent;

* More than 200 people who were quarantined on Christmas Island are returning to their homes on Monday;

* No further tests will be conducted after they leave Christmas Island;

* Evacuation of 200 Australians on board the Diamond Princess cruise ship, currently locked down in Japan, on Wednesday;

* The evacuees will be required to spend a further 14 days in quarantine at a worker camp near Darwin;

* Medical authorities say they can't be sure all of the people in good health on the ship are not carrying the virus.
