Turkish bakery in Perth's east gutted by fire
A large bakery has caught fire in Perth's east, prompting warnings as potentially hazardous smoke billowed above the city.
The Turkish Bakeries Factory on Planet Street in Carlisle went up in flames at 4.40am today, causing huge flames and large amounts of smoke to waft over Perth.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued a hazardous smoke warning and told residents to remain inside and to leave air conditioners off.

The hazardous smoke warnings have now been removed and the area has been deemed safe for residents.
There were 125 firefighters at the site working to extinguish the fire.
The bakery provided Turkish bread and food to major grocery stores around Perth including Coles, Woolworths, Costco and Aldi.
The Genc family has owned and operated the business for over 25 years.
Delivery drivers managed to deliver stock to 400 customers before the fire broke out, but the factory has been completely destroyed by the flames.

The family says it is looking for another place to continue baking and supplying locals with Turkish bread and delicacies.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
