Lake Parramatta reopening this weekend ahead of summer
Lake Parramatta will reopen this weekend ahead of summer after a $1 million renovation of the site.
The lake was closed in May to make the swimming area safer and more accessible, with improvements including a lifeguard platform, a beach, shaded areas and an outdoor shower.
Two people drowned in the lake within a week of each other in March and April this year, prior to the closure of the swimming area.

Other changes have been made to the area, including added greenery and a sandstone seating area.
The swimming area will officially reopen tomorrow, with lifeguards on duty every weekend from 10am and 6pm until November 24.
Lifeguards will patrol the lake seven days a week from November 30 between 10am and 7pm until January 30, 2025.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Martin Zaiter called the lake "iconic".

"These upgrades really elevate this oasis and provide a safe and comfortable environment to cool off on hot days," Zaiter said.
"The eastern suburbs have Bondi, Penrith has Pondi and now more people can safely enjoy the real gem in the West – Lake Parramatta.
"Lake Parramatta is a key part of our plan to create a continuous green corridor from the Lake to Sydney Olympic Park, reflecting our bold vision to become an unrivalled River City."
The $1.4 million renovation was funded by the state government's PLaces to Swim program with the help of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants.
