Wanted man carjacked elderly woman before he was killed in police shooting
A man has been shot dead by police after an elderly woman was carjacked and run over on the Gold Coast.
Police were called to Labrador this morning to arrest Travis Brown who was wanted over a return to prison warrant as well as other high-end serious offences.
The 31-year-old pulled out a gun, ran to the next street, carjacked an elderly woman, ran her over and left in her car, police said.

Police tracked the stolen vehicle and deployed tyre deflation devices.
The vehicle came to a stop in Brisbane Road in Arundel where police said the man attempted to steal another vehicle.
Police said the 31-year-old then fired multiple shots at officers with some bullets hitting the cars of nearby drivers.
A senior constable fired back and shot the man dead.

The shooting is under investigation by the Ethical Standards Command, with the investigation subject to oversight by the Crime and Corruption Commission.
Queensland Police Union president Shane Prior said he felt "extraordinarily confident that any enquiry will determine the actions of police were authorised, justified and lawful".
"We are very lucky we are not talking about a deceased police officer or member of the public today," Prior said.
The elderly woman was hospitalised and is expected to recover.
