Labour Day march takes place in Brisbane CBD
Labour Day marches have taken place across Brisbane's CBD, with opposition leader Anthony Albanese, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and dozens of union workers at the helm.
The march, celebrating the international fight for workers rights, featured essential workers at the forefront, including nurses and aged care workers who led the community through the pandemic.
People chanted cries of "union power" while marching towards the Brisbane Showgrounds.

A huge banner which read "our pandemic heroes, thank you" was carried down the street by members of the public, accompanied by the Premier and Mr Albanese.
Ms Palaszczuk said she was proud to show support for the achievements of workers, as Queenslanders enjoyed a public holiday.
"To really recognise the achievements of the labour movement for workers across this state," she said.
"To secure jobs in Queensland that's what we're fighting for and what we can work together on."

The sharply rising cost of living for Australians and stagnant wages are the latest issues at the forefront of the upcoming election campaign.
Leader of the Australian Labor Party Anthony Albanese said greater appreciation was also needed to address inequalities in the workforce.
"The next run is to get a Labor government that cares about secure work that addresses issues like pay for aged care workers that's what it's about," he said.
"Valuing workers not just saying thank you while they're underpaid and undervalued."
