A Labor government would set up a Treasury office in Perth to focus on Australia's important engagement with Asia.
Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen envisaged a 15-strong Treasury team working in the Western Australian capital at a cost of $2.8 million to the budget over four years.
"Being in the same time zone as important Asian capitals, it's important that some of the Treasury's international department be based in Perth," Mr Bowen told reporters in Perth on Thursday.
