Federal Labor will reveal new cuts and support for government savings to improve the budget bottom line.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten will be campaigning in Western Sydney on Friday, a day after visiting flood-damaged regions in Tasmania.

Labor will announce which unlegislated government measures it will support.

The party will also reveal several new savings measures in an attempt to repair the budget.

It's expected some of the measures will be tough and unpopular.

Family payments are expected to be on the chopping block, with the party looking to better target assistance.

Mr Shorten has previously pledged Australian families will be better off under Labor.

Any unlegislated measures Labor commits to will be removed from the party's budget bottom line.
