Labor seeks changes to crowd-funding laws

A coalition-dominated Senate committee has given the tick of approval for proposed crowd-funding laws but Labor insists the federal government needs to go back to the drawing board.

Legislation allowing unlisted public companies with less than $25 million in assets and turnovers to raise up to $5 million in funds a year passed the lower house last week and a Senate inquiry report tabled on Monday has recommended the upper house also pass it.

In a dissenting report, Labor recommends the bill be amended to allow a wider range of small businesses to access the regime.
