Labor's Bill Bus hits the road again

The Bill Bus is back.

Labor senator Sam Dastyari says the campaign bus that made its first appearance in the 2016 election will again track across Queensland and New South Wales.

It will start from Cairns next Monday and Labor people on board will hold a series of town hall meetings.

Senator Dastyari, leader of the Bill Bus, also issued a challenge to television identity Peter Helliar.

"During the last campaign, you came on the bus for a day. I wiped the floor with you in the breakdance competition and Bill Shorten smashed you in the high-vis competition," he said.

"Bill did want me to extend to you, if you want to be embarrassed again you're more than welcome to come back on the bus."

The bus has had a makeover and is now painted red.

"Last time the bus was white," Senator Dastyari said.

"Too many people tried to wave the bus down thinking it was their local commuter service."

The cost of the $2000-a-day bus draws on grassroots funding.
