Labor queries Lucy Turnbull events

Labor has questioned the Liberal Party's judgment in using Lucy Turnbull's state government-appointed job as a drawcard for an election fundraiser.

The Liberals have apologised to the prime minister's wife and donated money to charity after it became apparent her job was being used to lure donors to a $3000-a-head fundraising lunch and another event in Sydney this week.

The promotional material billed her as chief commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission.

"The taxpayers of Sydney pay the prime minister's wife in order to do a job - they should be entitled to believe the Liberal Party won't attempt to raise money by using that political position," Labor campaign spokesman Andrew Leigh told AAP on Thursday.
