Labor not taking Hindmarsh for granted

Federal Labor hopeful Steve Georganas isn't taking for granted a return to Canberra, even though he is ahead in the vote count for the South Australian seat of Hindmarsh.

Mr Georganas, who lost the seat in the 2013 election, is 177 votes ahead of the Liberal incumbent Matt Williams, but he says there are still postal votes trickling in, as well as absentee ballots and about 1500 provisional votes to count.

"All it takes is one bad batch to come in and you're blown out of the water. There's a few more votes to count yet before anyone can be confident," he told ABC television on Tuesday, 10 days after election day.
