Labor getting on with job in Herbert

Federal Labor is hitting the ground running in the narrowly won Queensland seat of Herbert, which could be fought out again at a by-election.

Two days after the electoral commission declared Labor's Cathy O'Toole the winner of the Townsville seat by 37 votes, Opposition Leader Bill Shorten paid a visit to promote the party's plans for jobs.

He told reporters on Tuesday the Liberal National Party was entitled to challenge the result in court, but insisted Labor was "getting on with the job" of fighting in Canberra for those who lived in the seat.
