Labor canvassing energy options

Federal Labor won't confirm it is moving towards announcing an inquiry into Australia's electricity industry.

The inquiry would map how Labor intends to achieve its ambition of 50 per cent of power generation coming from renewable energy by 2030, The Australian reported on Monday.

Shadow Treasurer Chris Bowen told ABC radio the party had canvassed a range of options with industry experts and academics, but was not yet ready to make an announcement.
