A Sydney boarding school teacher accused of grooming a 15-year-old girl has denied the offence.

William Roberto Gulson, who previously taught at Knox Grammar School in Sydney's north, was charged with procuring or grooming a child under 16 for unlawful sexual activity.

The 27-year-old allegedly sent explicit messages to the 15-year-old online in August.

He was arrested on September 6 in Wahroonga and charged at Hornsby police station.

Gulson, who is on bail, appeared at Hornsby Local Court today and the matter will be heard next on December 18.
