A man has been stabbed several times after refusing to hand over his mobile phone to another man in Melbourne’s CBD this morning.
The 25-year-old Newcastle man was seated outside the State Library of Victoria just before 6am when he was approached by the man, who pulled out a knife and stabbed him several times when he didn’t comply with his demands.

He has been taken to hospital in a stable condition.
The attacker, who was last seen on Swanston Street, remains on the run.
