Wife mourns 'greatest man ever' after deadly pizza shop stabbing in Sydney's west

The heartbroken wife of a man who was fatally stabbed outside his popular pizza shop in Sydney's west says he was "the greatest man ever".

Turkan Alagoz said her husband Sonmez Alagoz grounded her in life, but now she is grieving his loss.

"We've just had a very great loss, of course it's painful... he was the greatest man ever, he had the kindest heart ever," she said.

"He worked very hard for his children, never wanted anything bigger than that, just his children."

His son Vulkan Alagoz also spoke alongside his mother.

"If you were hungry, he would feed you, if you needed a little bit of money in your pocket to catch a train, he'd give it to you to get home," he said.

"Most importantly, if you needed a chat he would sit you down."

His daughter recently made Alagoz a grandfather and he wished her a happy birthday on the day his life was allegedly taken.

Alagoz, 58, was found on the Great Western Highway, near Kingswood, just after 10pm on Tuesday night with a single stab wound to his chest near his Pizza Stop store.

The father and husband was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he died hours later at about 12.30am yesterday.

Six people, including a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy, two 13-year-old girls, an 18-year-old girl, and a 19-year-old man, were arrested at homes in Werrington, South Penrith, and Penrith.

They were later released pending further inquiries.

At about 1.10pm yesterday, a 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with murder.

He will appear in court later today.

Police previously said the attack was believed to be random, with the teens allegedly setting on Alagoz about 40 minutes before he was due to close his store.

The pizza vendor was "very closely connected" to the community, NSW Police Superintendent Trent King said yesterday.

Locals told 9News that Alagoz was a "lovely" and "very kind" man who always greeted his customers with a smile.
