Kim and Kanye reveal the name of their third child

Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West have named their newborn daughter Chicago West, after the US city where the rapper was raised.

Kardashian West made the announcement in a post on her app yesterday, after Chicago was delivered by surrogate on Monday.

The baby weighed in at seven pounds and six ounces.

The reality TV star carried and gave birth to her older children, big sister North and middle brother Saint, but chose to use a gestational carrier after she suffered complications during her earlier pregnancies.

“Doctors said that it wasn’t safe for my, or for my baby’s health to carry my own,” she said in the post, after she suffered from pre-eclampsia and placenta accreta.

"Having a gestational carrier is definitely different, but anyone who says or thinks it's the easy way out is completely wrong.

"People assume it's better because you don't have to deal with the physical changes, pain or complications with delivery, but for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint."
