Worker killed in Gladstone kiln explosion

A man has been killed in a kiln explosion at a Gladstone factory.

The 31-year-old worker died after the kiln exploded about noon, throwing him against a steel container while he was attempting to light it, an Office of Industrial Relations spokesman said.

The explosion occurred at the Veolia Environmental Factory in South Trees.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland investigators are conducting investigations at the scene.
