Everything you need to know about the NRL Grand Final

NRL fans are gearing up for a huge day, with the first all-Queensland grand final to kick-off at Sydney's ANZ Stadium today.

More than 80,000 fans are expected to attend the game, and police are planning a high-visibility operation to ensure everyone behaves.

Whether you're watching from ANZ Stadium or from your home or hometown, here is all the information you need to know to enjoy the historic event.

Fans should be careful not to be tripped up by daylight saving, with clocks going forward an hour at 2am in NSW, and kick-off happening an hour earlier in the Sunshine State.

Key times

• Grand final kick-off is at 7.15pm, or 6.15pm for Queensland viewers, due to daylight saving.

• Channel 9 will broadcast Grand Final day games live from 12pm in Queensland, or 1pm in NSW.

Going to the game?

• 11am: food stalls and family activities begin around Sydney's ANZ Stadium

• 1.15pm: stadium gates open

• 1.35pm: Holden Cup Grand Final starts

• 2pm: Bands and kids' activities begin in Cathy Freeman Park

• 3.40pm: NRL State Championship Grand Final starts

• 7.15pm: Grand final kick-off

• Public transport is included in all ticket prices, with direct trains running Central and Olympic Park every 15 minutes from 1pm to 5pm and then every 7-8 minutes from 5pm to 9pm, and stopping at Redfern and Strathfield. Plan your trip via the NSW Transport website

• Sydney Olympic Park Major Event Buses will start running between 12noon and 12:40pm depending on the route. Buses will begin arriving at Olympic Park from 1:30pm with the last bus expected to arrive by 7pm.

• Grand final day in Sydney is forecast to be mostly sunny with a maximum of 35C and a minimum of 17C - making it the hottest NRL Grand Final on record.

• There is a five percent chance of rain.

Double demerits, traffic and safety warnings

• NSW Police have urged fans attending the match to keep any rivalry on the field.

• NSW drivers will receive double demerit points for any offences until midnight on Monday, October 5.
