A man who bashed to death his long-term partner at a Perth home has been sentenced to life in prison.

Kenrick Thomas Dodd, 42, will serve a minimum sentence of 18 years for murdering Margaret Indich, who was found injured and unresponsive inside a Belmont property on January 3 last year.

The 38-year-old died in hospital from head injuries, the West Australian Supreme Court heard today.

Justice Joseph McGrath described Dodd's attack as brutal, sustained and violent.
