Kempsey hit-run: Police hunt heartless driver man’s body found beside Pacific Highway
Police suspect a man whose body lay by the side of the Pacific Highway near Kempsey for up to three hours may have been hit and killed by a truck whose driver fled the scene.
Crash Investigation Unit detectives have appealed for anyone with information about the incident near Barraganyatti on the NSW Mid North Coast to come forward.
Police were called to the scene at about 11.55pm yesterday, after the body of a man aged about 30 was found lying in the highway’s breakdown lane.

Detectives believe he may have been struck by a northbound vehicle – possibly a truck – which failed to stop.
While time the man may have been hit is not known, police believe his body had been lying beside the road for up to three hours before being found.
A crime scene has since been established at the location.
