Kayaker drowns at Torquay beach in second tragedy in two days for seaside town
The man was found about 11.30am. (9NEWS)
A missing kayaker has been found dead at Fisherman’s Beach in Torquay.
Police were called to the beach about 10.30am today following reports of a missing kayaker.
Air Wing, Water Police and local officers commenced a search of the area, and the man was found in the water an hour later.
"He got into some difficulty. A fellow kayaker came in to let us know and we had a look for him with the helicopter and found him deceased," a Victoria Ambulance spokesman said.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
It is the second tragedy in as many days to hit the Victorian seaside town.
Yesterday, a man was pulled from the water at Torquay beach around 7.30am.
It also follows the death of another man who drowned at Blackburn Lake in Melbourne yesterday, and the rescue of a one-year-old girl from the Ovens River in Harrietville.
