A stage invader who has been charged after interrupting Katy Perry's Sydney concert last night has told 9News he did it for fun.

Johnson Wen, known as "Pyjama Man" online, said he loved the rush of stage crashing.

"I said 'let me get on stage with you', then she (Katy Perry) freaked out because she realised I wasn't a performer," Wen said.

"I was about to do like extra Fortnite moves but security got there too quick."

His hobby has taken him around the world, with stage invasions at the Olympics in Paris, the FIFA Women's World Cup, and the men's Cricket World Cup final in India.

"I just got on there, and as soon as i got tackled I got in a lot of trouble," he said of the invasion in India, saying "there was way too many security".

Wen claims he's not a threat but his actions have exposed serious security flaws.

He was already banned from Olympic Park for storming The Weeknd's stage when he attended Qudos Bank Arena last night.

The unemployed 25-year-old, who lives at a backpacker's hostel, has racked up an estimated $20,000 in fines.
