Katy Perry live streams her life for four days to promote album

Pop-star Katy Perry is in the midst of a 24-hour, four-day live stream of her everyday life to promote her new album, “Witness”.

Cameras began recording the singer on Thursday as part of the 72-hour, Big Brother- style marketing stunt at an undisclosed location in Los Angeles.

So far, Perry has been filmed sobbing to her therapist as she discussed her early childhood and why she decided to cut her hair.

“I didn't want to look like Katy Perry anymore," she said of her new blonde cropped hairstyle.

Today the Roar singer was joined by a slew of famous female friends, including Australian singer and songwriter Sia Furler, burlesque performer Dita Von Teese and actor Anna Kendrick.

The group was filmed engaging in lively conversation accompanied by a gourmet dinner.

The live stream is being hosted on YouTube until Sunday and has so far attracted more than 80,000 ‘likes’ from social media users.

Witness is Perry’s fifth studio album and has so far copped mixed reviews on music sites including Rolling Stone and Variety.

“A brassy voice that once held long notes and sang lines like 'I am a champion' is now devoured in effects and reverb,” Rolling Stone’s Christopher R. Weingarten wrote.
