Queensland rugby star Karmichael Hunt has described his drugs ban as a "blessing in disguise" as he returned to training with his Reds teammates.

The code-hopping star resumed full training with the Super Rugby outfit today but is not available for selection until Friday week's clash with the Melbourne Rebels.

Hunt was suspended for six matches at the beginning of March after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing cocaine in September and October last year.

He said he was a better person for the experience and is glad to be back alongside his teammates after weeks of training in isolation.

Hunt admitted that he was seeing a psychologist as he begins his road to redemption and says the Reds players and club have welcomed him back with open arms.
