Kangaroo trounces cyclist

Many cyclists wear cameras to catch aggressive drivers in the act but it's unlikely the average biker is too worried about marsupials – maybe they should be.

Thanks to a GoPro fixed to her handlebars, a Canberra woman in her mid-40s captured the moment a small kangaroo knocked her clean off her bike.

The video, posted on YouTube on Monday, shows her taking a smooth ride down Adelaide Avenue, near The Lodge, until the roo jumps a barrier just before an overpass.

The cyclist goes head-over-turkey, while the unfazed roo hops blithely on its way – only to be hit by a car and killed shortly afterwards.

Passers-by flocked to the aid of the woman, who avoided serious injured but suffered abrasions and needed eight stitches in her knee.

"They don't call it The Bush Capital for nothing," the cyclist noted on her YouTube page.
