Intelligence super-agency to get nod

The nation's top law officers are set to endorse the creation of a national intelligence super-agency to better track down would-be terrorists and serious criminals.

It will create an around-the-clock intelligence sharing centre that gives police the ability to have a real-time picture of a target.

Walking into a meeting of Australia's attorneys-general in Canberra on Thursday, federal Justice Minister Michael Keenan said experts from CrimTrac would be brought into the Australian Crime Commission.

"There's been good information sharing in the past," he told reporters.

"But to bring those agencies together will be a step forward ... to make sure our federal police, and state and territory police are getting the best and most up-to-date criminal intelligence that they can."
