The jury in Rebel Wilson’s defamation trial has retired to consider its verdict.

The Pitch Perfect actor is suing Bauer Media for defamation over a series of articles published in May 2015 she says damaged her reputation by painting her as a serial liar and put her out of work for a year and a half.

The articles claimed to reveal the truth about Wilson’s “real name, age and childhood” after the actor added a touch of “fantasy” in order to “make it in Hollywood”.

Wilson, 37, grew up in Sydney and now lives in California, and has maintained throughout the trial she has never lied to journalists.

The jury was asked to keep the question “is the star a serial liar?” in mind as they deliberate, the Herald Sun reports.
