Former foreign minister Julie Bishop is donating the spectacular red sparkly shoes she wore while announcing her resignation to the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House.
The striking pair of red satin block heels, contrasted against a sea of black footwear, symbolised the Liberal Party's issue with female representation in federal parliament.
"The shoes were seen as a bold statement and a symbol of solidarity end empowerment among Australian women," the museum said in a statement on Monday.
