US judge poised to reveal previously suppressed Epstein documents

A US judge could reportedly bring more trouble for the embattled Prince Andrew after indicating he was ready to order the release of documents disclosing the Duke of York's alleged role in securing a reduced sentence for pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Epstein was convicted in 2008 of soliciting an underage girl for prostitution, but only served 13 months of an 18-month jail sentence.
The previously suppressed material is believed to contain details of a number of powerful figures, including Prince Andrew, who allegedly lobbied for a reduced sentence on Mr Epstein's behalf, News Corp has reported.
The Duke has been accused by two women of having sex with underage girls "provided" by Epstein, and has denied the allegations.
Federal US judge Kenneth Marra wrote that public policy favoured the judicial records being open.
He ordered Epstein's legal team to provide evidence of "extraordinary circumstances" as to why the documents should not be released.
Epstein is being sued by a number of women over his role in an alleged underage sex ring.
Among them is Virginia Roberts, who has also claimed she was forced to have sex with Prince Andrew when she was underage.
Buckingham Palace has issued several denials that the Duke was involved in any illicit sexual activity.
