Joyce says 'move on' from Abbott

Supporters of Tony Abbott need to "park things and move on", says Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce.

Mr Joyce was asked on 2GB radio on Tuesday about his advice to coalition voters still angry about Mr Abbott being dumped for Malcolm Turnbull in September.

"At times you've got park things and move on, otherwise you live your whole life looking back over your shoulder and you are going to get angry and bitter," the deputy prime minister said.

He had come across an "angry and bitter" political figure in recent times, he said, making a veiled reference to Kevin Rudd's campaign against Julia Gillard.

Mr Joyce said voters, whether they supported Labor or the coalition, needed to consider who would provide the stronger government "for the love of the nation".

"Make that decision and then don't worry too much about the personalities, worry about the team you want to back."
