Electrician left a quadriplegic after freak accident

A 25-year-old electrician has been left a quadriplegic after a summer holiday took a terrible turn.

Josh Davis fell into shallow water from a friend’s shoulders on January 5 while on a camping trip in Corowa on the New South Wales and Victoria border, before he quickly realised he couldn’t feel his arms and legs.

Among those first to respond was Robyn Cronin, the mother of one-punch victim Pat Cronin, who was a close friend to Josh.

"He sort of looked at us and said ‘I can’t feel my arms and legs,'" friend Anthony Hopkins told 9NEWS.

Mr Davis was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital for emergency surgery, and is now being treated at The Austin Hospital’s spinal unit.

“I’ve been sitting up more and more and its’ been good,” Mr Davis said.

He’s surrounded by girlfriend Jade and a group of good friends - who’ve faced a lot together.

“We’re like a family,” Mr Davis said.

His support team is organising a fundraiser to help cover some of his medical costs, with donations needed for an event on May 12.
