Job ads rise for all occupations

The jobless rate may have dropped to a four-year low of 5.5 per cent but new figures show this hasn't satisfied demand for workers from business.

The Department of Employment says job advertisements on the internet rose by a further 1.2 per cent in May with increases recorded for all eight occupational groups it monitors.

Demand for machinery operators and drivers again led the field, with ads rising by a further 2.7 per cent in the month to be 20.8 per cent higher than a year earlier.
