Jetstar says it will cancel close to 100 flight this weekend as pilots prepare to strike.

The airline says it expects 80 percent of its flight to operate as scheduled by consolidating services, moving flights onto bigger planes, re-timing flights and using supplementary services from Qantas and QantasLink, however it will cancel some services to mitigate delays.

"Overall, Jetstar will cancel 44 services on Saturday 14 December and 46 services on Sunday 15 December and Jetstar will contact impacted customers from today. On average Jetstar operates about 370 flights a day," Jetstar CEO Gareth Evans said.

"We expect to get 95 per cent of our customers on their way on the same day.

"Any customers travelling from 13 December to 20 December can also request a full refund prior to flying."

The Australian Federation of Air Pilots' (AFAP) will walk off the job for four hours on Saturday and Sunday over stalled wage negotiations.

Jetstar baggage handlers and ground crew will also stop work from Friday at Sydney, Melbourne, Avalon, Brisbane, Cairns and Adelaide airports over their hours and wages.
