Flight radar images show JQ189 circling in airspace after take-off around 8.25am (AEST) before being diverted north and landing.

No passengers or crew are believed to have been injured.

The airline confirmed the flight had been diverted.

“The captain requested a priority landing and the aircraft landed without incident,” Jetstar said in a statement.

The carrier said it was investigating the incident.
