Jet fighter forced to make emergency landing at Brisbane Airport

An Australian Air Force strike fighter jet has been forced to perform an emergency landing at Brisbane Airport.
The twin engine F/A-18 Super Hornet supersonic combat jet, code-named Carbine 21, issued a mayday call to air traffic control at Brisbane Airport to say it did not have the necessary fuel to complete a 60km trip to RAAF Base Amberley.
Air traffic control quickly advised commercial pilots there would be a delay due to the fighter jet making an emergency landing.
International flights were diverted and passenger planes were put into a holding pattern to give the jet priority to land.
Brisbane Airport told Nine.com.au the aircraft landed safely at around noon today.
