Cricket fans angered as 'it's OK to be white' banned unveiled at Big Bash match

Three men were escorted out of Optus Stadium last night by security and WA Police for hanging a sign saying 'It's OK to be white'.

The banner was hung from the top tier of the Stadium at the beginning of the Perth Scorchers v Sydney Thunder Big Bash League game.

Spectators say it was up for about a minute before it was packed away.

The three men were issued with a Move on Notice by WA Police.

VenuesWest and venue manager VenuesLive say they do not condone this behaviour.

WA Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray says 'While I don't believe these people deserve any more publicity, there is clearly no place for racism in sport, or anywhere else.'

''Sport is supposed to be the great unifier so I am glad these people were quickly removed from the venue." Mr Murray added.

The phrase has been associated with neo-Nazi groups and white supremacists movements.

It's not known if the men will face further penalties.

A Cricket Australia Spokesperson told 9NEWS: "Three people in question were immediately removed from the venue and they will be issued a first and final warning from Cricket Australia.

“Cricket Australia takes a zero-tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour at any of our matches, which includes racial vilification.”
