Irish copper workers sought for NBN

Unions are fuming over a plan to bring Irish copper workers to Australia to help build Australia's largest telecommunication project - the National Broadband Network.

Recruitment agency OneIRC Australia has pitched to Irish cablers, offering interviews in Ireland for jobs paying $75,000 per year for three years and the opportunity to travel across the great southern land.

Communication Workers Union secretary Greg Rayner slammed the advertisement in a statement, saying "this is Australia's biggest job creating infrastructure project and with youth unemployment over 10 per cent, we need these jobs here and now".
